We are not as happy as our forefathers
This age of materialism will never be happy till men pay more attention to the old values taught by our forefathers. And yet, are we happier than them? The old days of trouble and difficulties have come to an end.
Are we happier than our forefathers poem
The existing condition without a masks our lives miserable with a horrible future. We can communicate with people anywhere in the world by virtue of the telephone, and now via Internet. We can travel in railways, ships, motor cars and airplanes. We have all kinds of electrical gadgets to help us swiftly complete our work with the least labour. Medical science has done great service to man. The old days of trouble and difficulties have come to an end. Our forefathers had to travel on foot for long distances, or they used the bullock cart for this purpose. We have television and video to entertain us. However, they tended to crumble and dissolve druing the rainy season. It has nothing to do with happiness, goodness, beauty, courage, adventure justice, friendship, love of family, love of country etc. In all the contexts it may be the irony to say that we are leading a better life than our forefathers.
They had none of the tensions of twentyfirst century life and therefore none of the high stress medical problems of today. We do not have peace of mind. Scientific development has out-stripped our spiritual or moral progress.
Electrical gadgets and machines make us lazy because we fully dependent on that. However, they tended to crumble and dissolve druing the rainy season. But, our forefathers could not even have dreamt of such machines. I am of opinion that a balance should be maintained.
There is no limit to where we can travel.
In the end, i would like to conclude that advancements in technologies alone would not help us in living our lives happier. Today, we have the most sophisticated modes of transport and communication. We still feel doubtful if we are really happier than our forefathers.
